Scrub and Store

The Scrub and Store system is designed to clean, cool, and compress all in one simple step. This hybrid system can be used for emissions control, air pollution control, odor control, Direct air capture, and energy storage or recovery. Compressed air may be used for energy recovery through industrial applications such as operating compressed air tools, cooling, venting, tank blanketing, agitation in anaerobic digesters, and much more. The compressed air may also be used for compressed air energy storage (CAES), by further compressing the gasses to a higher pressure and releasing it through a turbine on demand. Scrub and Store may be used both on land and at sea due to its compact design.

Emissions and Air Pollution Control

Our scrub and store design uses an eductor, and otherwise known as a jet venturi scrubber design. This scrubbing design is well known to have extremely high particulate removal of 99%. With careful wash fluid selection specific gasses can also be absorbed and removed with up to 95% efficiency. The scrubber can handle high temperatures, corrosive gasses, VOC's, coarse and sticky particulate matter, and varying process gas flows and pressures. The high pressure liquid stream creates a vaccum which can help move the process gasses throughout the system eliminating the need for a fan. Energy is recovered from the discharged wash fluid using a pressure exchanger and one of many compressed air recovery applications. This gas scrubber design is recommended for Biogas production, marine applications and thermal generation units on land.

Direct Air Carbon Capture and Air Pollution Control

Scrub and Store may be used to capture carbon directly from the atmosphere using a monoethalamine (MEA) solution or a lime solution. According to international reports Direct air capture must scale up to around .1 to .65 billion tons carbon over the next decade. Due to the Venturi design the system is also highly effective at removing Particulate matter. PM 10, and more particularly, PM 2.5 and smaller are very dangerous to human health. Resulting in around 4,000 - 6,000 deaths, and contributes to 2,800 hospitalizations for cardiovascular and around 6,700 emergency room visits in california alone. It is estimated to contribute to 200,000 deaths in the Unted States every year. And about 4.5 million premature death around the world.

Energy storage

Energy can be stored in the form of compressed air. This system compressed air to around 7-10 bar during scrubbing. The gasses are then further compressed to around 70 bar. the high-pressure gasses can then be released through a turbine generating electricity when needed. By using this system gasses can be scrubbed and compressed during off peak periods, lowering the cost of scrubbing and turning what was once waste gas into a valuable resource. This system is recommended for Biogas (RNG), Natural gas, waste to energy (WTE), and other thermal generation power plants.

Energy Recovery

Energy may be recovered through a pressure exchanger taking advantage of the high pressure discharge stream of used wash fluid. However, more importantly energy may be recovered in the form of compressed air. Compressed air is used for a vast set of applications in numerous industries. For example compressed air may be used for, pneumatic tools, cooling, sealant air, controls and actuators, air powered brakes, agitation and more.
